Weapons

Sword of Pelor

  • 1d10 damage | Weight 2 lbs | Slashing/Piercing | Critical: 19 – 20 *2
  • To anyone but a paladin of Pelor this sword acts like a +2 magic weapon.
  • In the hands of a Paladin of Pelor it is a +5 holy weapon.
  • The sword does double damage against creatures of, from, or powered by a plane other than the prime material plane. Such as demons or undead or summoned creatures.
  • When drawn and held in a hand the sword emits pure daylight to 120’. This light shines through natural and magical darkness and affects creatures as full daylight. eg. kobolds suffer -1 from being in daylight, vampires take sunlight damage. Good creatures within the sunlight aura get a +1 to their saving throws.
  • The sword projects an aura of power to 10’ when drawn and held by a paladin of Pelor. Within this radius it grants 50% immunity to magic cast by a chaotic or evil opponent and dispels hostile magic. The difference is in the spells duration. Instantaneous spells like fireball fall under the 50% immunity rules and spells with a duration like curse fall under the dispel rules.

Background

Donald was the 10th son of a minor noble who had little need for more children, especially dreamers like Donald. Therefore, it was a blessing that Donald felt the calling to become a man of justice and traveled to the main continent to receive his initial training. He returned to the island after many years and much adventuring only to find that everything he once knew was changed. His ancestral lands, far to the north, had been overrun by orcs. His family was gone. His ancient enemy, injustice, was everywhere. In time, he approached King Yon and was greatly disturbed at his majesty’s position of weakness. He vowed passionately to restore the King to rightful power any way he lawfully could. Perhaps moved by his sincerity, the King’s Mage told Donald in secret of his apprentice who had joined a small band of adventurers. The Mage told Donald that these were good people all and likely to have a great impact on the future of the country. Thus Donald bought supplies and set out towards Talowdale on his trusty mount, Milfred, in search of the means to restore peace to the land.
